Helpful roofing resources for Queensland property owners.

Resources

Clear information before you make a roofing decision.

Roof damage can be hard to understand from the ground. These guides explain what to expect during a CRG inspection, what signs to look for after a storm, and when a roof may need more than minor repairs.

Our aim is simple: give Queensland property owners clear advice, practical next steps and a smoother process from inspection through to outcome.

Know what to look for.

Practical information for homeowners, property managers and commercial owners after hail, storms or visible roof deterioration.

01

What happens during a free roof inspection?

A CRG roof inspection is designed to give you a clear understanding of your roof’s current condition without pressure or obligation.

We visually assess the roof surface, flashings, penetrations, ridge capping, gutters, valleys and any obvious signs of weather-related deterioration. Where safe and appropriate, we document findings with photos so you can see what we are seeing.

After the inspection, we explain the condition of the roof in plain English and outline the next steps. That may mean no action is required, a minor maintenance issue needs attention, or the damage warrants further documentation and support.

02

How to identify possible hail or storm damage.

Storm and hail damage is not always obvious from the ground. Some property owners first notice secondary signs such as water staining, leaks, ceiling marks, mould growth, rust forming around fixings, loose ridge capping or gutters that no longer drain properly.

On metal roofs, hail may leave dents, impact marks or damaged coatings. Over time, these marks can lead to surface deterioration or rust if the protective finish has been compromised. On tiled roofs, damage may include cracked tiles, chipped edges, broken ridge capping or movement around valleys and roof penetrations.

If you notice leaks, mould, rust, loose roof components, unusual water entry or visible roof damage after a storm, it is worth booking a professional inspection before the issue spreads internally.

03

When to repair versus replace a roof.

Minor roof repairs can be suitable when the issue is isolated, such as a small leak, a damaged flashing, a small section of ridge capping, or a maintenance-related issue that is not widespread.

Storm and hail damage can be different. If the entire roof has received impact damage across multiple elevations, a small patch repair may not properly address the underlying problem. Age, coating condition, existing corrosion, previous repairs and the overall roof system all need to be considered.

In some cases, the roof may be damaged to a state where repair is not practical or cost-effective because the damage is widespread. In those situations, replacement may provide the most reliable long-term outcome and prevent ongoing water entry, rust and maintenance problems.

A simpler process with Claims Approved.

CRG works alongside our partner company, Claims Approved, to help make the process simple, organised and client-focused from start to finish.

Claims Approved helps guide clients through the documentation and communication process so they are not left trying to work everything out on their own. Their role is to keep things clear, structured and aligned with the client’s best interests.

Together, CRG and Claims Approved aim to reduce stress, improve communication and provide support from the first inspection through to the final outcome.
